The Toyota Tacoma has a towing capacity of between 3500-6400 lbs. The difference in towing power is dependent on the engine that is equipped and whether or not the towing package is added. The minimum towing capacity of 3500 lbs is for both the 4-cylinder and V6 engine that powers the Tacoma. It’s only when you add the Towing Package to the V6 that the towing capacity is lengthened to 6400 lbs. Despite its smaller frame, the Toyota Tacoma is one very capable hauler and can take on way more than you’d expect.

Depending on the engine you choose, the Toyota Tacoma has horsepower from 159 hp all the way up to 278 hp. The standard model equips a 2.7L 4-cylinder engine. That 2.7L engine produces 159 horsepower and is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. To get up to 278 horsepower your Toyota Tacoma will need an optional 3.5L V6 engine. That engine is also paired with a standard 6-speed automatic transmission, but a 6-speed manual transmission is available on certain trims levels.
Curb weight of the Tacoma ranges from 3915 pounds all the way up to 4465 lbs.
The 4-cylinder, rear-wheel-drive Tacoma weighs in the lightest at 3915 pounds. When you put in the V6 engine and 4-Wheel Drive the curb weight increases slightly to 4,465 lbs. Doesn’t matter if you choose rear-wheel-drive, 4WD, the V6, or the 4-cylinder, the Toyota Tacoma is a reliable and sturdy model that can tackle a long list of situations.

If you are looking to pursue serious off-roading or live in a climate with lots of snow then you should want a minimum of 8-in. of ground clearance. It’s easy to see, the Toyota Tacoma provides an excellent amount of ground clearance and makes for a surprisingly qualified off-road truck. I was just there earlier to check their EV, Toyota BZ and test drove it. I love the car and the agent (Sulaiman) who helped me was nice. I was just there earlier to check their EV, Toyota BZ and test drove it. I love the car and the agent (Sulaiman) who helped me was nice. They told me to fill out the form to see if I qualify for California rebate. While filling it out, they told me not to continue because I don’t qualify. I asked for the reason because I haven’t completed or submitted the form but they couldn’t tell me the reason why. The agent just said he doesn’t know. I am not sure what his manager used to see if I qualify because I know the agent was just a messenger. I understand if a dealer cannot give you an offer that you can afford but I felt discriminated saying I don’t qualify with no explanation. The agent was nice and understood my situation but the higher ups are just hiding, giving instructions or info but had the nerves to say right away that I don’t qualify.
